Came to the US in 1854; settled in Detroit in 1859 and studied law. Admitted to the bar in 1862. Appointed prosecuting attorney for Wayne Co. in 1881 upon the death of Michael Fernane. Died of apoplexy at age 50.
Became an active Republican in 1864, casting his first vote for Lincoln.
