Biographical Sketch:
He was vice president of Huntington National Bank for 28 years. He served as Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioner in 1992 and as a Grand Traverse County commissioner for 22 years. He was on the Northwest Regional Airport Commission of Cherry Capital Airport from 2007-14, also serving as Chairman of the Board in 2008 and 2011. He was appointed by three governors—Engler, Granholm and Snyder—to serve on the State of Michigan Community Corrections Board in Lansing from 1994-2014, serving as Chairman of the Board by Governor’s appointment from 1999-2014. Inman served on the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments Board of Directors from 1998-2014, serving as Chairman of the Board from 2003-2014. Inman returned to Northern Michigan University after being appointed by Governor Engler to serve on the Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees from 2002-2006, and was later reappointed from 2009-2010. As a representative on the Grand Traverse Board of Commissioners, Inman was elected to serve on the Michigan Association of Counties Board of Directors in Lansing from 1998-2004, and was the State Association President from 2002-2003. In addition, he served on the National Association of Counties Board of Directors in Washington, D.C. from 2002-2004. He served on the National Association of Counties Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs Board from 2005-14 and was Chairman of the Board from 2005-06 and 2009 to 2011. He was an avid collector, historian and educator on Amelia Earhart.
Notable Facts:
Received the Northwestern Michigan College Outstanding Alumni Award in 2005 and also received the Northern Michigan University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008.
Indicted for extortion and bribery in May 2019, related to his vote in 2018 on repealing the prevailing wage.
