Served as U.S. Commissioner, Western District of Michigan (1957-62). A delegate to Constitutional Convention (1961-62). Member of Wiley-Koon Post, American Legion; Elks; Kalamazoo County, Michigan and American Bar Associations; chairman, board of directors, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Schoolcraft, Michigan chapter.

Notable Facts:
Delegate to the Michigan constitutional convention of 1961-1962. Minority floor leader & chairman of the Rep. state senate policy committee. Elected to 6 consecutive Congresses, 1967-1979. SR 212 , 1998 Senate Journal, p. 1752 indicated that he had died. No date or place of death. Great grandson of E. Lakin Brown, former member of the House of Representatives, State Senate, and Board of Regents of the university of Michigan. Grandson of Addison M. Brown, former member of the State Senate and secretary of Michigan Agricultural College.
