Biographical Sketch:
His parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Barrett, were life long farmers and he remained with them on the farm until 1920. He was the first boy in Michigan to complete five consecutive years in 4-H club work, and was one of the first to enter the then Michigan Agricultural College, East Lansing, on a 4-H Club scholarship. His scholarship was extended to the second year on the basis of his high scholastic standing. He won many honors in livestock judging and was also state bean champion of 4-H clubs in 1919. Taught in consolidated agricultural schools for seven years and as manager of a cooperative marketing association of celery growers. Member of the Masonic lodge and was a boy scout committeeman.
