Biographical Sketch:
Son of John M. and Mercy Ann (Swift) Osborn. He moved to Hudson, MI in 1840 He worked for a time for the Michigan Southern Railroad engineer corps. With capital saved , he went into a mercantile business with his brother-in-law, William Baker, from 1846-58. He purchased a farm in Hillsdale County in 1847. He simultaneously dealt in the sale of lumber. For 5 years he operated a mercantile in Hudson. He was head of the banking firm Osborn, Perkins and Co. of Hudson. He held several township offices. Member of the Masons.
