A lifelong resident of Macomb County, he was the owner of Goike Trucking and Excavating. He had experience working in agriculture, septic and water delivery. He served as president of the Armada Fair, and member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, the Michigan Builders Association and the Septic Association. member of Berville Lions, Masons, Macomb 4-H and B&Bs Gun Club. He was a parishioner at St. Peter's Catholic Church.
