He was married first to Emma Frank on December 2, 1885 in Detroit. After the death of Emma he was married to Christina Waltz, the widow of Peter Waltz, of Jackson, on January 9, 1907. He had two children with Emma: William Hugo Loeser (1888-1929) and Viola Therese Loeser Somerville (1890-1974)

Biographical Sketch:
He was the son of August Loeser (a native of Saxony, Germany) and Therese Mauch (a native of Wurtemburg, Germany). Came to Jackson in 1867 at the age of nineteen. According to his obituary, he was a member of the board of aldermen, and served two years on the board of county supervisors, three years as fire commissioner, and three years as police commissioner. He was a member of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, the Masons and the Elks as well as the Loyal Order of Moose, the Maccabees and the Arbeiter Verein, a German Workingmen's Society. He was president of the Germania Building and Loan Association.
