Biographical Sketch:
He was an associate pastor for Bay Port Community of Christ. He was a school social worker and Huron ISD Principal for the Huron Learning Center, a school for children with significant cognitive, emotional and behavioral issues, in Bad Axe. He was the owner of Integrity Matters, LLC, which provided training, advocacy, and staffing related to interpersonal skills, education and politics. He was the special education supervisor for Saginaw ISD, Freeland schools, Bay-Arenac ISD, and Bay City Public Schools. He was a charter member of the Huron County Council on Abuse and Neglect, Zero to Three Family Mentor Program, and Huron Homeless Coalition. He was a member of the MSU extension Council, Camp Scholarship Board, Human Development Commission's Drug and Alcohol Advisory Committee. He was a youth hockey referee volunteer and a Special Olympics coach. He also served as president and negotiator for his local Michigan Education Association chapter. He served on the Thumb Area Transit’s advisory committee, and is a member of the MSU Extension Council and the Early On Council in Huron County. He volunteered for the Huron County Sheriff’s dive team and also helped to organize local Habitat for Humanity projects. He lost his seat in the House in the 2010 General Election, however, in 2012 he was elected to the House again. He ran for the Senate in November 2014 but was not successful.
