Biographical Sketch:
She served as the deputy chief of staff in the office of State Rep.Virgil Smith, before being elected in 2006. She did volunteer work with Michigan Young Democrats, the NAACP and Project Vote Smart. A co-founder of the Empowerment Fund, an organization that works with youth. Through the Empowerment Fund, she worked with youngsters at Detroit’s Brightmoor Community Center as a tutor. She devoted time to mentorship and motivational speaking. She was active in her church, Word of Faith. In August, 2012 she ran in the new 13th House Congressional District but lost. After leaving the legislature she worked for Matty Moroun, owner of the Ambassador Bridge.
