Biographical Sketch:
He was engaged in business in Utica, NY, 1842-44 when he moved to Ann Arbor, MI. In Ann Arbor, he ran a mercantile for 2 years then returned to Yonkers, NY, in 1847. 2 years latter he was in Port Huron, MI where he engaged in farming, real estate, insurance and banking. He was sheriff of St. Clair county and served as alderman for 4 years. From 1867-76 he was appointed special deputy collector of customs for the district of Huron. In 1878 he was elected to the city's Board of Estimates.
