Born on Hudson St. to Oliver & Catherine Permelia (Crossen) Davenport. Of English & Dutch descent. Came to Hadley Town, Lapeer Co., MI in 1837 with his family. As a young man worked as a store clerk. 8/9/1962, enlisted in Co. K, 4th Michigan Cavalry; discharged as an Acting 1st Sgt. Held several local government and social offices, including township treasurer and supervisor several times.
