Biographical Sketch:
Born in new York in 1818, John W. Dewey moved to Michigan with his parents in 1823. Settling on afarm in Bloofiled, Oakland County, Dewey recived his basic public education. In 1839, he moved to Shiawassee County and settle on a farm in Owosso. He was elected to represent Shiawassee County for the 1881- 82 term. In addition to holding several minor offices, he also held the offices of Highway Commissioner and school board member for over 20 years.
