Biographical Sketch:
Emigrated to America with his parents, 1849, settling in Ottawa Co., MI. Lived in Montcalm Co., 1850-55. He taught in Montcalm County, 1860/61. He enlisted in 21st Reg. Michigan Infantry 8/15/1862; mustered out as 1st Lt. 7/7/1865 and returned to Albion College for about 1.5 years. He was elected register of deeds for Ottawa County, 3 times [1869-75]. He served as supervisor and chairman of the board of supervisors. In 1890, with others, he organized the Zeeland Furniture manufacturing Co.
