Biographical Sketch:
Son of Hoarce and Elizabeth Rose (Hart) Jerome of Tompkins County, NY. He came to Michigan with his parents in 1827 arriving in Detroit in 1844. Admitted to the bar in 1848. He specialized in railway and corporate law. He served as city attorney and solicitor for the Detroit, Grand Haven & Milwaukee Railroad from 1859-90. He was one of the 'commissioners on the plan of Detroit' from 1857-69; collector of customs at Detroit, 1869-75. Retired from business in 1890 and spent time on Nantucket Island, MA
