Biographical Sketch:
He was born in Georgia, but moved to Michigan and was a chemist for Pharmacia and Upjohn for 28 years. He was active in several community groups, including mentoring elementary students, and received the NAACP Humanitarian Award in 2003. Served four terms as mayor of Kalamazoo, 1997-2005.
