Biographical Sketch:
Of Highland Scottish ancestry, Son of Thomas Compton and Johanna MacKay. In 1880 the MacKay family removed to Spink county, SD, when he was 9. He was admitted to the bar in 1895 and practiced in Detroit, as a member of the firm of Stellwagen, MacKay and Wade, formerly Cutcheon, Stellwagen and MacKay. He specialized in corporation law. He was a member of the Detroit Club, the University Club, the Detroit Country Club, the Indian Village Club, and the Lawyers' Club. He also beloneds to the Detroit Bar Association, the Michigan State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He was agent for the provost marshal general for the 22nd district of Detroit, and was a director of the regal advisory board, and for 3 terms. He had mining interests in Montana.
