Biographical Sketch:
Was brought up on a farm and at 19 embarked in trade at Honesdale PA but soon abandoned it and returned home. He and his wife Caroline had three sons and three daughters. Admitted to the bar in 1842 and engaged in practice. Engaged in 1861 in banking. Became a director and vice president of the National Bank of Tecumseh in 1865. Became head of the banking firm of Bills, Lilly & Co. in 1874 and served in this capacity until his death.

Notable Facts:
Born in Vermont. Delegate to the Constitutional Convention in 1867. Organized the first school district in Tecumseh in 1838 and was a member of the school board continuously for 40 years.
