Biographical Sketch:
He came to Detroit as a sutler in the army under Gen. Harrison in 1813, and subsequently settled there. He established a store and became a leading business man, and at a later date was prominent in the development of the Lake Superior copper mines. He served on the territorial council, the Detroit Council.
He was mayor of the city in 1839, several times alderman, and took an active interest in business, church and educational affairs. He was on the board of the Detroit French College and erected the first plaster mill in Michigan.

Brought his bride to Michigan on the first steamboat to cross Lake Erie.
