Moved to Columbus, OH, in 1833; then Grand Rapids, MI, in 1855; engaged in the lumber business at Kelloggville, Kent Co.; during the Civil War organized the 2nd, 3rd, & 6th Regiments for the War Dept.; appointed colonel of the 3rd Reg.; collector of internal revenue for the southern district of Alabama 4/30/1866-7/1868, residing in Mobile, AL; moved to New York City & later to Alliance, OH.
