Biographical Sketch:
He came to Michigan in 1839, and commenced milling in 1844 in Mt. Clemens. He was contractor for the Erie & Kalamazoo canal in 1847, and in 1849 contractor for the Buffalo & Blackwell canal, NY. In 1851, he re-organized the bank of Macomb County, and was president, vice president and cashier until 1858, when he sold out and went into the lumber firm of Kibbee, Fox & Co. In 1861, he was a large contractor in buying horses for the army, and in 1863 was elected cashier of the First National Bank of Detroit. In 1857, he was appointed Pension Agent, and served through the term of Buchanan. He also organized the banking firm of Duncan, Kibbee & Co. He was not active in business after 1887.
