Biographical Sketch:
He was the son of Luther and Martha (Hallett) Landon. He came to Niles, Berrien County, MI in 1832 at the age of seventeen, in the midst of the excitement caused by the breaking out of the Black Hawk War; Postmaster of Niles from 1837 to 1841, and Treasurer of Berrien County, MI for ten years (1843 through 1852).
