His parents were Eli Lapham and Rachel Ruth Crandall. He came to Michigan in 1830, lived in Wayne County seven years, and in 1837 settled upon a farm in the town of Maple Grove, Barry County, where he reside in 1887. He was fifteen terms Supervisor.
