Biographical Sketch:
Son of Alfred F. and Hanna Willett. Grew up in Onondago Co., NY. Appreniced to a joiner at 18. Taught school winters. Lived in Minnesota for a short time. Moved to Muir, Ionia Co., 1853 or 1854, to work as a builder until 1860 when he purchased a farm near North Plains. Enlisted, 1861; commissioned capt. of Co. I, Berdan's U.S. Sharpshooters; served for 13 months (resigned due to disability.) Bred American merino sheep. he served as supervisor several terms and was president of the agricultural society.
