Biographical Sketch:
Son of Calvin and Betsy (Scott) Bingham, VT pioneers. Moved to Jackson county in 1830 or 1838 establishing a mercantile in Leoni twp for 2 years before selling and starting a farm. He farmed from 1842-53 when he settled in Grass Lake and building the first store there.. He moved to Jackson in 1845, and continued in business for several years. He was connected with the state prison, as clerk, and agent and warden, from 1855-75, after which he was in the real estate business until his death.

Notable Facts:
He was a brother of Gov. K. S. Bingham. Formerly a Democrat, became a Republican at the organization of that party in 1854.
