Biographical Sketch:
Of German/English descent. Son of Alem J. and Lanine (Tinny) Hutchins. From 1898 to 1906 he was a Farmers ' institute lecturer during the winter months , mostly in Michigan but with one season in Wisconsin and a part of three different years in Rhode Island as college extension worker for the agricultural college of that state. Member of the Grange. In 1906, he was elected secretary of the Michigan State Grange a position he held for several years. In 1930, he was a live insurance agent.
