Biographical Sketch:
Son of Casper and Catherine M. (Riopelle) Burke. He served as postmaster of River Rouge and justice of the peace for Ecorse township (25 years). He founded the River Rouge Savings Bank with his brother H.C. Burke.

Notable Facts:
Died due to a ruptured appendix. Find-a-Grave gives birth date as the 25th, death certificate says 23rd. in 1862. 1913 Manual say birth year is 1866. His mother was from an old French family that arrived in Detroit with Cadillac in 1701. His father was of German descent.
