Biographical Sketch:
Came to America with his parents, John [or Johann] N. and Anna [or Augusta] (Haeker) Nank, in 1873 and settled in Fraser. They cleared land for a farm. Naturalized in 1890. He served as clerk of Sterling Twp, 1893-94; Macomb County Sheriff, 1895-98; Mount Clemens police commissioner; and mayor of Mount Clemens, 1913-16. In May, 1908, he was appointed customs agent and resigned August 1, 1912. He was president of the Brick and Tile Co. in Mount Clemens and director of the Citizens Savings Bank. He once had the largest livery business in the county then became a sales agent for a motor company.
