Emigrated with his parents, 1833, settling in Rochester, NY. 1842 worked for the Sentinel in Ashtabula, OH; 1845 moved to Battle Creek & printed the Western Citizen & then the Michigan Tribune (which ceased in 1848). 1852-63 became ed. & pub. of the Battle Creek Journal; 1871-77 ed. & published a new Michigan Tribune
