In 1824, his father, D.J. Wright, moved to Oneida county, and in 1843 came with his family to Michigan, and David settled in Springfield, Oakland county. He was appointed postmaster for Austin, and held the office 25 years. He was for some years coroner of Oakland county. Member of the Masons and the Grange.
