Biographical Sketch:
Son of Ira and Charlotte F.(Douglas) Crippen. Taught school in Washtenaw Co. until age 27. Moved to Iron Co. and taught for another 3 years until becoming a mining engineer. Served as township supervisor in Superior twp, 1888-89 before moving to the Upper Peninsula; elected supervisor in Iron Co., 1895. Principal of Stambaugh schools; mining engineer. Also served as township clerk and justice of the peace and member of the Board of Examiners.
