Daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Miller) Lehman. She was vice-chair of Michigan Democratic Party, 1939; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Michigan, 1940, 1944; candidate in primary for U.S. Representative from Michigan 6th District, 1944; Presidential Elector for Michigan, 1944.

According to HCR 264, 1975 House Journal, p. 2730 she had died. No place or date. According to Women in the Michigan Legislature prepared by the Michigan Legislature in July 1995 Elizabeth Belen died July 26, 1976. Political Graveyard gives a death date of July 24, 1975.
