Biographical Sketch:
Son of Martin and Catherine (Swallow) Boughner. His family moved to Monroe Co., MI in 1835 when Charles was 11. In 1837, they moved to West Bloomfield in Oakland Co. Purchased is own farm in 1851 with funds saved teaching and working other people's farms. He served as justice of the peace; school inspector; township clerk for a number of years and was supervisor for 12 consecutive years, then retired for 4 years, before serving 2 years more.
