Biographical Sketch:
Son of Rev. Ebenezer and Abbie Cheever. Admitted to the bar at 21. Member of the American, State, and Detroit Bar Associations, serving as vice-president of the latter for 10 years. He was a member of the board of education of Detroit from 1857-61, and of the State board of visitors to the University of Michigan in 1857 and 1858. He was one of the organizers of the Westminster church of Detroit , has been a member of its board of trustees for many years , and was four years its president.
