graduated from high school in Dingley, ME, 1879;
attended Bates college and graduated from Yale, 1883 and Columbia Universities, on law, 1885.
Biographical Sketch:
Son of Nelson and Salome (McKinney) Dingley. His family moved to Lewiston, ME in 1863. After complting his degrees, for the next 2 years, he wrote political news for newspapers in Boston and Leavenworth, KS. In 1888, he moved to Kalamazoo, MI where he partnered to buy the Kalamazoo daily and weekly Telegraph. In February 1897, he was elected president of the Michigan League of Republican Clubs. He was a candidate for member of the Michigan House of Representatives in 1890 and 1892 and failed to be nominated but received a unanimous nomination for office in the Republican Legislative Convention in August of 1898. In June, 1898 he was appointed clerk to the ways and means committee of the US House of Representatives and he held this position until 1/1/1900. Adviser to the US Senate's Finance Committee in Washington at the time of his death.
