Biographical Sketch:
Son of Martin B. and Catherine Baum. Began working for his father Martin Baum at Sherman House Hotel in 1873. Became partner in 1877, holding a one-fourth ownership stake. Served as alderman for four years and mayor of East Saginaw, 1888-1890. Mayor of Saginaw, 1896-1904, 1906-08. Delegate to Democratic National Convention from Michigan, 1904. Member of Elks, Knights of Pythias, Freemasons, Maccabees and Foresters.
