Biographical Sketch:
Of English-Scotch heritage. Son of William D. and Christina (McKay) Deadman. He moved to Alpena in 1881 with his parents. He was one of 12 children. He worked 2 years in lumber camps (as woodsman and timber cruiser), 1 summer sailing, and then was employed as an accountant and stenographer. He served as committee clerk in the house of representatives in 1901; state banking department in 1912/13. Served as county clerk of Alpena 1909-13; county treasurer 1917-21; court stenographer for several years. Engaged in the real estate business. Member of Odd Fellows, Michigan State Grange, Spanish american War Veterans, the Odd Fellows, the Eagles and the Elks.
Notable Facts:
Served in Co. B, 33rd Michigan volunteer infantry during Spanish-American war in 1898.
He died at the Alpena Hospital in Alpena, MI.
