He came from central New York to Pontiac, MI, in 1837 and established the Pontiac Herald, which he published as a Democratic paper until 1839. He was a justice there in 1839. He removed to Paw Paw and started the Paw Paw Free Press in 1845, which he published less than a year and a half. He afterwards moved to Detroit.
