Of Irish and English ancestry. Son of Wallace A. and Mary E. (King) Preston, who served in the Navy on the U.S. Proteus & the U. S. S. Stars & Stripes during the civil war. His mother, Mary King Preston, mother of 6 sons and 1 daughter, came from a pioneer family of Berrien county. Loomis practiced law in Saint Joseph; served 8 terms as a Berrien County supervisor. Member of the Masons and Elks Member of Michigan State Bar Association.
