Biographical Sketch:
At the commencement of the Civil War, he had charge of a large farm near Rochester, MI; was drafted but furnished a substitute. At the expiration of his lease, he enlisted and served in the 22d and 29th Michigan volunteer infantry. At the close of the war, he went to Canada and engaged in the speculation of oil; returned and purchased a farm in Oakland Township. He sold his farm in 1871 and moved to Pontiac where he became a produce dealer for 9 years. He then went into banking and real estate. for 10 years. Member in the G. A. R. and the Odd Fellow circles; served on the board of water commissioners of the city of Pontiac during the existence of said board and acting as clerk most of the time; has held the office of alderman of his city.

Convicted in 1903 of soliciting a bribe, $500, to influence his vote on SB 261 file #49. related to wholesale grocers; sentenced to 2 years in prison or a fine of $2,000.
