Biographical Sketch:
He was born in Oswego, NY, the son of David and Mary Agnes (Moore) Lusk. When he was five, the family moved to West Bay City, MI. He began active life when 13 years of age, as a newsboy, 2 years later took up the study of pharmacy in a local drug store, and remained almost continuously in the drug business for 12 years, 3 years of this time as the proprietor of a pharmacy in Owosso. In 1893, having disposed of the drug business he had established in his home city, he entered the journalistic field, assuming the management of the West Bay City Tribune. He continued in the newspaper work until elected City Recorder in April, 1894, and was re-elected to the same office in 1896. In 1915 he was grand master of Michigan Masons. He was appointed Deputy Secretary of State by Coleman C. Vaughan; resigned December, 1918, to become secretary of the Public Domain Commission in place of A.C. Carton, resigned. He also served as Bay City manager from 1928-36; and as postmaster.
