Biographical Sketch:
Son of James H. and Roxanna (McMath) Shepherd. He worked his way through school and eventually became a clerk in a law firm, studing there until admitted to the bar in 1878. In 1879, he moved to Cheboygan, MI. He served as prosecuting attorney of Cheboygan Co., 1880-84; probate judge, 1886-88; member of the Board of Control of Upper Peninsula Prison, 1890-91; and circuit judge. Member of the Masons, Knights of Pythias, the Odd Fellows, Modern Woodmen and the Knights of the Maccabees.
