Biographical Sketch:
Son of Garrett and Julia A. (Saunders) Van Camp. He enlisted, as a private, in Co. A, 145th Pennsylvania Volunteers, August, 1862. He moved to Michigan, April 1866. He cleared land to farm near Benton Harbor. He served as township supervisor, chair of the board of supervisors and Berrien County treasurer [1883-87]. Member of the GAR and Odd Fellows.
Notable Facts:
Wounded at Gettysburg 7/2/1863 and discharged from the hospital in Philadelphia, 11/22/1963.
