Irish descent Taught in rural schools for several years; superintendent of schools, Hermansville, four years; engaged in the life insurance business; held postmastership eight years, under the Wilson administration and was Meyer Township supervisor.

Notable Facts:
Elected to the legislature on the Democratic ticket in 1922 and 1926, November 6, 1928, without opposition, and re-elected November 4, 1930 According to HCR 422, p. 99, 1976 House Journal he had died. No date or place of death. According to the Detroit News, 12/27/1975 he died 12/21/1975 in Leavenworth, Washington. He served as as Speaker of the House 1933-1934. He was appointed as collector of customs by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1934 and retired in 1953.
