Biographical Sketch:
Of Dutch and English ancestry. Son of Sylvester and Sarah (Peake) Doremus, who moved to Michigan when Frank was 1. He learned the printer's trade and conducted the Pewamo Plaindealer for 2 years. He established the Portland Review in 1885, editing it until 1899; asst corp. counsel of Detroit 1903-1907; city comptroller 1907-1910. Practiced law in Fowlerville, MI after leaving office. He was elected clerk of the township of Portland in 1888 and 1889. Mayor of Detroit, MI, 1923-24.
