Biographical Sketch:
Son of Mary Holton. His father died when he was 2. He emigrated to the US in spring 1849 and settled in Verplanks, NY but moved to a farm in Taylor Township, Wayne County, MI in 1855. In 1869, he moved to Dearborn. He was a clerk in a store until 1875 when he went into business for himself. Served as justice of the peace, school trustee, supervisor of Dearborn and postmaster [4 years].

Notable Facts:
Died as a result of injuries caused by being run down by a carriage.
