Biographical Sketch:
Son of Hiram and Rachel (Packer) Johnson who settled on Michigan in 1834, the second family in Venice, MI. He enlisted the 28th day of August, 1861, as a private of Co. " H. " T. B. Stockton's First Michigan Independents, afterwards known as the 16th Michigan. After the war, he returned to farming and beekeeping. He was supervisor of his town for 6 consecutive years and held most of the minor offices of the town.

Notable Facts:
He was wounded three times in the battle of Gaines' Mill, VA, June 27, 1862. He was also wounded In the second Bull Run fight . He was discharged upon the expiration of his term of service, Aug. 18th 1864. On the 1900 US Census he was working as a government clerk in Washington, DC.
