Biographical Sketch:
Son of Edwin and Catherine, (Carpenter) Thatcher. Was born on a farm near Coudersport, Potter County, PA. He moved with his parents to Ravenna, Muskegon County, in 1866. He lived on the farm with his parents until the age of 21 when he moved to Kansas and then to Ottawa, IL. The next year, he returned to Michigan and engaged in the business of house and sign painting in summer and in the winter teaching school and occasionally clerking in the drug store . He engaged in the business of a druggist at Ravenna . He served as School Inspector, Supervisor of his township, and was chairman of the Board of Supervisors until elected to the Legislature. In politics Mr. Thatcher was a Green backer during the life of that party. but was elected as a Democrat to the Legislature.

Notable Facts:
1/1/1859 is his actual birthdate. He was father of T. Thomas Thatcher who served as Clerk of the House and as a member of the House. Died of atropic cirrhosis of the liver.
