He was admitted to the Bar by Judge Hinsdale. He came to Michigan in 1837, locating at Ypsilanti. Soon after arrival, he was admitted to practice in the Bar of Michigan. He was a member of the Bar for 16 years. Prosecuting Attorney for 4 years.

Notable Facts:
Born in Vermont. Israel and Hannah Buckbee, ages 84 and 80, were living with him in 1850. Father-in-law to Rep. Henry M. Cheever [1899-1900 session]
