American descent. Associated with the law firm of Baird & Rummel, being associated with Judge William S. Baird. In Gogebic county, served as member of the county board of supervisors, Chairman, Mayor of Ironwood, City Attorney, President of the Gogebic County Fair Association, member of the board of managers of the U.P. State Fair.

Notable Facts:
He entered the training camp for officers at Ft. Sheridan, Ill, in 1917, and went to France in 1918 in command of a company of infantry. Affiliated with the Elks, Masonic orders being a past master of Agogebic lodge No. 494, and American Legion. Elected to the legislature November 4, 1930, without opposition.
