Biographical Sketch:
Son of John and Rosa (Beuchle) Hatzenbuhler, German immigrants. He learned the trade of cigar making at S. Freedman & Co., packing and classing. During the winter nights of 1880-81, he took a course at Mayhew's business college, and from 1881-84, he worked at his trade for Burk, Rich & Co. He then took a position as bookkeeper with the Heck Lumber Co. From 1886-95, he worked for the firm of George Moebs & Co., the last 3 years as city salesman. July 1, 1895, he was elected paymaster of the board of public works, and held that position until October 15, 1898. in 1899, he was a representative for the American Tap and Bush Company.

Died of apoplexy and heart disease.
